Description: "The Stagedoor Singers" are excited to bring a little bit of Broadway to the Midwest! Our mission is to introduce kids of all ages to Broadway show tunes, both classic and contemporary. We can find songs to fit with almost any theme. Our high-energy, interactive shows involve plenty of audience participation with opportunities to get on your feet to sing and dance along!

Laurin Dodge, Katie James, and Abby Nichols are three Madison area musical performers and educators with a variety of backgrounds, including national Broadway tours, and vocal and instrumental concert performances. They bring with them a lot of experience working with children in both performance and education outlets.

Description: Skip Jones has been a mainstay on the Wisconsin folk music scene for over 35 years. He combines his diverse song repertoire with engaging stories from a lifetime of performing, teaching, and world travel. His sources of inspiration and material range from the late folk legend U. Utah Phillips, his primary mentor on the road, to cultural icons and social justice and environmental activists from around the world. He was born in California and raised in New York State; Skip now lives on The Red River, within the Stockbridge-Munsee (Mohican Nation) Reservation, in northeast Wisconsin.

In his late 60s with 21 grandchildren, Skip is a natural with any audience from children to seniors. Accompanied by guitar, banjo, and Native American flute, he has entertained and educated at thousands of libraries, schools, festivals, nursing homes, and community events across the U.S. He is very experienced in performing for people with special needs, and his warmth and affection for all audiences is evident in his voice and interaction with listeners. Skip will draw you into the show!

Description: "A Visit with Queen Elizabeth I" is your opportunity to meet one of the most remarkable women in history. Mary B. Kababik as Her Majesty appears in historically-accurate dress attended by a male Courtier to discuss the life of an absolute monarch in an age when it was thought that women were unfit to rule. An audience with the Queen includes history, customs and manners, and even dancing! Other programs in Mary's repertoire deal with life in Elizabethan England, Courtly Dancing, which includes additional dancers and musicians, the games that Fate plays with monarchs, and history as portrayed in movies.

Mary, who holds a BFA and MFA in Acting, has performed at the Art Institute of Chicago, the Newberry Library, Milwaukee's Discovery World Museum, the Bristol Renaissance Faire, and many libraries and schools.

Description: Storyteller/juggler/magician/author Dr. Bob Kann has performed throughout the United States since 1982. Bob dramatizes stories from contemporary children's literature, tells folktales from around the world, juggles everything but the kitchen sink, presents mesmerizing magic, and sparks kids' imaginations as he inspires them to read a wide variety of books. Biographies, poetry, "how to" books on juggling and performing magic, nonfiction, humor and wordplay books, and much more are promoted during the show. Description: Bouncin' Bus is a traditional school bus converted into a mini-gymnastics and fitness center for children ages two through eight. It is available year-round, fully padded, and filled with equipment such as tumbling mats, balance beam, horizontal bar, vault, rings, parallel bars, mini-trampoline, monkey bars, climbing wall, zipline, ball pit, and obstacle courses. Children will learn the ABCs of fitness (agility, balance, coordination, strength) and engage in activities encouraging movement, teaching motor skills, and demonstrating the importance of stretching. Themes can be incorporated to make learning extra-special. Activities can take place on the bus inside a classroom, but the bus is best. We also have an outdoor commercial bounce house available for rent. Instructors are safety certified through USA Gymnastics. For more information, visit the Bouncin' Bus website.

Performing Area: Parking space for Bouncin' Bus. Bouncin' Bus is the size of a regular 72 passenger school bus: 41 feet long, 8 feet wide, and 11 feet high. If requested, space for our bouncin' house! Unit is 19 feet long, 13 feet wide, and 14 feet high.

Description: The Chickadees are a female music trio that record and perform fun and educational, nature-based children's songs. The founder of The Chickadees is Mary Karlzen, a successful nationally known, singer-songwriter in the Americana genre. She has released CDs on the Atlantic, Dualtone, and Y&T Music labels and has been seen on VH-1, CMT, and TNN video music channels. The trio, completed by Carmen Nickerson and Anjl Rodee who are both Milwaukee music veterans, soars with three-part harmonies and clever songwriting.

Karlzens' children's songs combine these themes in an educational way with participation and movement. Songs like "Five Shiny Red Apples" link audience participation with the concept of counting backward. In "Acorn, Acorn," a fun story of squirrels and acorns is related while teaching that acorns are seeds from oak trees.

Description: Tom Kastle has spent over two decades "on the road" and "on the water" as a singer, tall ship sailor and captain, songwriter, and teller of tales. As half of the maritime folk duo Tom & Chris Kastle, he toured throughout the US, Europe, and New Zealand delighting audiences and producing 11 recordings plus a soundtrack for PBS (WTTW Chicago). Since moving to Madison a little over three years ago, Tom has performed at over 40 libraries throughout Wisconsin as well as folk venues from Duluth to Halifax. His music has been featured on Simply Folk, WORT-FM, Madison's WMMM-FM, and NPR stations around the US. He has also become the Narrator (with small singing roles) for the Candid Concert Opera Company.

In addition to penning his own songs, Tom is a performer of traditional maritime music who has spent years immersed in the music and lore of the sea as well as the "Inland Seas" of the Great Lakes. He is a US Coast Guard licensed captain and has served as captain aboard four tall ships. His concert, library, and school performances, seminars, and workshops are steeped in research as well as hands-on experience. A Folk Alliance Lantern Bearer Award recipient, his background in sailing and sea music prompted an invitation to be the maritime music "professor" at the International Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis. His original maritime song "Cold Winds" has been covered by artists in the US, England, and the Netherlands. Capt. Tom can be seen annually on the Weather Channel's The Christmas Tree Ship: A Holiday Storm Story. When home ashore, Tom resides in Madison, in Gov. Doty's 19th century fishing cottage.

Description: Nicholas is a visual artist who is fond of the Japanese style of comics and animation. His Manga Workshop consists of two separate hour-long programs. The first is how to draw in the style; drawing people and poses as well as hairstyles and facial expressions. The second part is about putting comics together, including characters, stories, and page layout. Be sure to bring along your imagination and maybe your sketchbook, too! Both workshops come with optional Powerpoint displays, take-home workbooks and are appropriate for all ages, but the second is recommended for a slightly older audience. The workshops are fun, informative, energetic and sometimes unpredictable!

Nicholas also does a more general art workshop in drawing people and animals.

Description: With more than 35 years experience, David has been performing both stage and close-up sleight of hand magic for numerous libraries, schools, conventions, and special events. David is a true professional who keeps any audience spellbound. Because his stage show is focused primarily on children and their interests, David has incorporated the use of live animals such as his famous rabbit, Carrots, and various types of birds in his show. There is a great deal of audience participation, laughter, and gasps during his performance. So no one will go home disappointed, David's close-up sleight of hand is equally impressive. Whether he is walking around, mingling with people, or moving table to table, David displays incredible talent as a sleight of hand artist, making objects such as cards, coins, balls, etc. seem to defy the laws of nature.

Stage shows generally run 40 minutes in length, although longer performances are possible for an extra charge. Magic workshops are also available for both children and adults for an extra charge. Shows can be adapted to different themes if desired.

Description: If you can't bring your audience to the South Pacific, bring the South Pacific to your audience. The Barefoot Hawaiians, an authentic Polynesian-style performing dance troupe, will do just that as they deliver the feeling and festiveness of the Islands with their mix of dynamic dances, music, and vibrant costumes.

The group's performance includes the dazzling Samoan Fire Knife dance, the world famous Hula Dance, and audience participation. Ancient traditions abound in the Islands' music and dance. Dancers will explain the customs and folklore of such islands as Samoa, New Zealand, and Tahiti. Barefoot Hawaiians has been entertaining audiences throughout the U.S. and as far away as China for more than 28 years. Performances with or without the use of fire are available.

Description: Tom conducts Educational Speaking Presentations with Live Reptiles as well as Static Live Reptile Displays. Both programs are hands on, fun and interactive!

He is capable of presenting a wide variety of subject matter and habitat education, plus lots of both humorous and captivating tales!

Another one of his facets involves reptile fieldwork. He provides identification, capture, and removal of reptiles with relocation if necessary.

Description: "Seeing Stars" is a program that aims to make exploration of the night sky easy and fun for schools, libraries, and other groups interested in What's Up There. The heart of "Seeing Stars" is a standard model Starlab Portable Planetarium. The Starlab is an opaque inflatable dome with an entrance tunnel, 18 by 21 feet across and 10.5 feet high, and can seat about 30 children. In the center of the dome, a projector displays more than a thousand stars, the sun, and the moon onto the inner surface of the dome. A slide projector is also used to project space images, some direct from NASA. Paul Kinzer brings the nighttime into the day with this interactive program, sure to inspire oohs and ahs. Paul leads groups of all ages through an orientation outside of the dome, then everyone crawls inside to see the night sky! Learn about the seasons, constellations, planets, and more! It's so cool.

"Seeing Stars" offers the four different programs listed below. Paul has a lot to share, so the presentations last about one hour and fifteen minutes. They can be shorter (as little as 50 minutes) or longer if folks are curious or no one shuts Paul up! Each is intended for a different age group, but all can be adapted to some extent. Paul is also eager to work with teachers and other leaders to present programs that meet specific needs. Up to four programs can be provided in a single school day; more are possible in other settings. Setup and tear down can each take about 45 minutes, but half an hour will do in a pinch.

1. What's Up in the Sky?: Pre-K to Kindergarten
2. Exploring the Night Sky: Kindergarten to Grade 4 or mixed-age groups, kids to adults
3. The Solar System: Grades 3-6
4. Earth from Space: Grades 4-7

"Seeing Stars" can also offer star parties. Several telescopes and pairs of binoculars will be available for exploring the stars with Paul. He will share his knowledge of the night sky as well as information about astronomy equipment appropriate for beginners. Star parties are outdoors after dark, and the weather needs to cooperate!

Finally, Paul is the author of Stargazing Basics: Getting Started in Recreational Astronomy, published by Cambridge University Press. He does a presentation for older kids and adults based on his book, which includes explanations and demonstrations of the use of astronomy equipment, from star charts to telescopes, and uses a slide projector to show astrophotos he has taken himself. He also brings copies of the book and offers signed copies at a discount from retail. For these presentations, he typically is paid for mileage and accepts gratuities.

Paul has more than 30 years of experience working with children of all ages. He designed and directed a summer nature study program for Minneapolis Kids, the School-age Care Program of the Minneapolis Public Schools. He's been an avid amateur astronomer for more than 15 years and currently owns seven telescopes, two of which he built himself! Please visite the Seeing Stars website for much more information.

Performing Area: The Starlab Portable Planetarium requires a minimum ceiling height of 10.5 feet and needs at least 20 by 23 feet of floor space. Star Parties need outdoor space with as much open sky as possible, preferably with no nearby lights. Book presentations need a meeting space with room in front for astronomy equipment. A screen for slides is nice, but Paul can bring his own or project onto a white wall.
Requirements: Indoor area for the Starlab, with an electrical outlet and (preferably) lights that can be turned off during the program.
Fee: 1 program in a single day: $130. 2 programs: $240. 3 programs: $350. 4 programs: $450. More than 4 programs: $450 plus $90 for each additional program. Mileage is added based on round-trip miles traveled. Mileage costs can be split among nearby destinations when booked for the same day.
Travel Range: Wisconsin, southeast Minnesota, far northeast Iowa, northwest Illinois. In summer, range is unlimited with paid mileage.

Description: Children experience their local amphibians during this uniquely hands-on, emotionally exciting, and highly educational program. Young participants hold, feed, water, and listen to the calls of many native species of frogs, toads, and salamanders—from tiny spring peepers to big bullfrogs. Randy tells the story of a female frog that was struck by a car and lived, while reading from his new children's book, Blinky: A Special Gray Tree Frog. Blinky, who survived but lost an eye in her accident, makes a live appearance. Randy is a well-known Wisconsin naturalist and has led several statewide environmental organizations. He has authored several frog books, including Wisconsin Frogs: Places to Hear Frogs and Toads Near Our Urban Areas, but he is best known for his interactive frog shows that stir the intellect and arouse high excitement and laughs in children.

Description: A desire to share the amazing life of the honeybee with others led beekeeper and educator Andrea (Andy) Krueger to create an exciting and interesting presentation to teach her audience about the sometimes misunderstood and often underappreciated honeybee. Through the use of a PowerPoint presentation featuring photos from her own bee yard as well as posters, books, and apiary equipment, Andy shares interesting facts about honeybees. Topics include but are not limited to the life cycle of the honeybee, life inside the hive, benefits of bees, how to attract bees to your home gardens, and the valuable uses of products produced by bees. To further pique her audiences' interest, Andy has an observation hive to allow the audience to see inside the hive (availability depends on the time of year). Description: This is an informative, delightful, and interactive presentation focused on the Tibetan Singing Bowls. At the beginning, there is a lecture portion which gives some history about the Tibetan Singing Bowl, what they were used for, how they were made, and the blend of metals that comprise the singing bowls. I also describe the other instruments used during the concert.

Next, I give a concert using the Tibetan Singing Bowls, Ghanta and Dorje, and Tingshas. This is an exceptional and unique experience which is deeply moving and allows the audience to sit back, relax, and move into a quiet, contemplative state while listening to the unusual and soothing sounds of the singing bowls.

After the audience has had the opportunity to listen to the concert there is time for participants to comment on their experience during the concert.

Then we move into the interactive part where everyone gets to choose a singing bowl or other sound instrument, and I show them how to hold the bowls and play them. This is fun and exciting, and no musical skill is required. People of all ages are captivated by the harmonious sounds that come from playing the bowls. It is a great way for people to experience playing music together in a group setting without having a musical background. Relating and communicating through the amazing sounds that are created gives everyone an opportunity to express themselves through this universal language of music and sound.

This presentation is provocative, fun, enjoyable and gets everyone engaged. Normally it is an hour long but can be expanded to one and one-half or two hours.

In his Magic of Reading Show he includes magic to music, balloon animals, audience participation, and live animals including Einstein, the worlds smartest and cutest bunny. Rondini got his start in magic at age 12 by reading a book from the Menasha library, something he like to mention at all of his library shows.

In the Weird Sceince Comedy Show, Rondini appears as Doc Ron, a time traveling student of Doc Brown from Back to the Future. He performs several fun and interactive science experiments.

Description: As Miss Licorice, RaChelle Lisiecki is an interactive children's story performer. Working within a personal space of 10 by 15 feet, she recites and sings an original story to children while using props along a handmade set. Along the way, children are brought into the story with direct questioning and even become part of The Boom Lodge show! The performance is most appropriate for children ages 4-10.

During the approximately 30-minute story performance, children are greeted with surprise set effects, congenial interactions with Miss Licorice, repetition of story/song lyrics (making it easy to join in), and an anti-bullying message embedded throughout. After the show, as long as time (and wiggles) allow, she fields questions from all audience members regarding her, the story, the characters, and the set. Children are invited to have "backstage" access into how she created the set using many everyday items found in the home. With a degree in Elementary Education, RaChelle is a substitute teacher for districts in Dodge and Washington counties and brings her enthusiasm for teaching and learning with her to every show! Performing Area: 10 by 15 foot stage area with space for preferred audience size of 60-80; a raised performing stage or riser/bleacher audience seating. A raised stage provides optimal viewing, but we have managed with all children seated on the floor.

Description: Ken is a much-loved performer and prolific songwriter, able to create concerts around virtually any theme with funny and insightful original songs. He's written many songs inspired by books, and lots of full-scale musicals based on classic tales - he uses these in concert to encourage children in the joys of reading. His songs about Wisconsin history, nature and the environment earned him the moniker "Minstrel for the Environment" way back in 1982. His performances are high-energy sessions consisting of vocals, guitar. ukulele, and storytelling, lots of humor and participation. The songs are rich in lyrical content and he's won numerous Parents Choice, American Library Association, Booklist. and Parent's Guide to Children's Media awards. Ken offers the option of a DUO performance with one of his talented musical pals!

Description: A fast-paced, children or family oriented show. A great variety of technical juggling and balancing feats are accompanied by non-stop comedy patter, lots of audience participation and a big dose of fun. Adults and children are equally amazed, amused and entertained. Loon's reading show, titled "Read Books and Juggle Everything Else", promotes books, reading and libraries while Loon juggles and balances everything else—clubs, balls, a mongoose, scarves, sports equipment and giant bean bag chairs! Following the finale of plate spinning, Loon tells the true story of how he learned to spin plates from a library book! He takes pride in his positive and upbeat humor and shares with the audience the benefits of a positive attitude and believing in oneself! Loon has traveled the world with his juggling act. If you are using a theme, Loon is happy to incorporate it into his show. Other shows available: "Merry Anticipation of Disaster" - includes more audience participation and finishes with fire torch juggling; "Choices" - a comedy juggling show about making healthy lifestyle choices; and "Juggling Workshop" - for all ages, up to 30 per group.

Description: Jason Love provides a magic show that is both hilarious and amazing. He uses his unique personality to get you to laugh and draws on his incredible talents to engage your attention. Watch the audience shift to the edge of their seats as they beg to be chosen as a volunteer to help Jason carry out his uproarious magic.

Jason can add a little color to your event with his large variety of balloon sculptures; he has a never-ending list of balloon creations to choose from! This skilled performer is also available to teach workshops in magic or balloon twisting for an educational event.

Jason also provides an Animation Workshop for ages 12 and up. All cameras and tripods as well as other interactive props needed to engage young minds in the magical process of stop-motion animation are provided. He will teach the basic concepts of animation and provide participants with multiple digital animation activities. Jason's Bachelors in Psychology helps him to keep his young participants engaged throughout the animation process; his tutorials become a valuable opportunity for self growth, artistic expression, and personal discovery. The finished mini-film projects are collected and turned into DVDs, one for every contributor—a very good souvenir of a great time!

Jason has been performing for over a decade, including appearing on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2006 and several years of performing on the main stage at Six Flags Great America. He has completed his studies at The International Clown Camp, where Jason majored in comedy magic and minored in balloon-ology and funny business. Aside from holding a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, he is also completing his Master's degree in Business.

"Family Life in the Wilderness" — In this 1760s program, Manzke dresses in period clothing to take the audience back in time with an account of Wisconsin life in the fur trade era. Her tales of primitive medical practices can be chilling. In Manzke's basket she carries toys, soap, candles, furs, and children's clothing. The wilderness program is 45-minute and is appropriate for all ages.

"Saving Family Stories" — Using fun personal stories Susan encourages others to gather and save their own family favorites. A 45 minute program which can cross generations.

"Wendel T. Bear's Adventures" is a 30 to 45-minute slide presentation and narrative. Wendel is a large teddy bear who wants to be a child. He is funny, yet informative. His best audience consists of preschool through second grade. Among his experiences are trips to the doctor's for a checkup and a visit to his dentist. It is Wendel's dream to go to school.

For the older audience, Manzke offers a 45-minute creative writing and imagination program. Overcoming her own learning disabilities, Manzke tells how she wrote two Doubleday novels. She is also a published children's author with stories on the Internet in Reading Comprehension Grades 1 and 2 at www.superteacherworksheets.com.

A woman of many hats, Manzke uses her 30-year career as a weekly humor columnist to entertain and demonstrate ways to save family stories.

Description: Mauthe's high-energy variety show is suitable for all ages. His skills in magic and illusion include pulling a 45-foot streamer out of his mouth. He juggles a variety of objects from bowling balls to a rubber chicken. With record speed, he produces balloon creations ranging from a wee mouse to elaborate sculptures. Description: Dana McCarthy is a singer, songwriter, and educator who creates songs with a simple goal in mind; getting young children and their caregivers/families to sing, dance, and play together in an environment that promotes self-confidence, literacy and motor skills, and the bonds of family.

At the heart of a Jump Up! program is "play"; dancing, sing-a-longs, rhythm activities, and musical games that make every event an enriching experience for both children and caregivers. Events focus on family play, encouraging children and parents (and grandparents, etc.) to sing, dance, and move together.

Jump Up! Family Music is an interactive music-and-movement program, encouraging children and adults to experience music together. Dana McCarthy's original songs are written specifically for young children ages 2 - 8 with their musical, physical, and literary development in mind. The songs provide simple cues to guide children while at the same time allowing them freedom to experience the music in their own unique ways.

Description: With gentle humor, Joan McGovern "edutains" children of all ages, accompanying herself on guitar. Joan, an award-winning singer and prolific songwriter, has a program of original silly and movement songs for preschool children as well as four programs of original songs for ages 3-8: 1) Educational; 2) Environmental/Animal Songs; 3) Friendship Songs; and 4) Silly/Sweet Songs. Joan will also perform a Celtic program for children from 3 years old to fifth grade that she sings at Celtic fests. With titles such as "Clever Tom and The Leprechaun" and "Giants' Causeway," Joan sings the wisdom of folk tales that she has set to Celtic guitar music. Joan plays the bodhran and uses puppets in this program. Children get involved in most of Joan's songs by singing along or with movement.

Joan also teaches a songwriting/music history class. "Sing Your Own Song," for children from second to eighth grade.

Joan belongs to the Nashville Songwriters Association International and is a cantor at her church. CDs are available for interested parties.

Description: The Omeyocan Dance Company exists to celebrate Mexico's colorful cultural history and to share it with others. Through performances that feature authentic dances, costumes, and music, we entertain and educate audiences of all ages and cultures. The Omeyocan Dance Company tailors its 10-90 minute performances for the audience. Performance options include, but are not limited to: professional theatre performances, audience question/answer sessions, and interactive Aztec workshops teaching dances, drumming, history and language. Performance venues include: schools, universities, libraries, museums, theatres, festivals, churches, educational workshops, quinceneras, fairs, celebrations, and corporate and private events. Description: Miller and Mike are former Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus performers who combine physical comedy, juggling, and audience participation into high energy, quality entertainment. Description: I am one of the most sought after school show entertainers in the U.S. today. I have performed for K-8 audiences, as well as families, from coast to coast. The Library Show is usually based on the annual summer reading program reading theme and includes family fun magic appropriate for library family audiences as well as older "tweens." My show includes lots of volunteers, comedy for everyone, and live animals (optional). This show can be performed for audiences of ten or a thousand, as I will provide all of the technical equipment. The only thing I ask from you is the space and the audience!

Description: Matthew is an award winning magician, who happens to be deaf. Magic Morgan provides entertaining fun for all ages, from young children to sophisticated, jaded adults. He offers three types of programs—Stage Illusion, Magic and Comedy; Close-up Street Magic; and Balloon Sculptures. Matthew's grandfather introduced him to magic when he was six years old, and he has been fascinated with all things magic since then. Some of his tricks involve live animals. Description: Nedrelo Lectures offers a wide range of wildlife-oriented themes which are informative, fun, safety oriented, and involve hands-on with the audience. Biodiversity, natural history, behavioral interpretation, bioacoustics (vocalizations), and phenology (timing of natural events) represent key program components. Desensitization and phobia discussion is gently offered.

Live amphibians and reptiles serve as models for wildlife discussion. A wide range of specimens are available, along with sheds, skins and shells. Rainforest images and sounds bring the tropics to the classroom or larger audiences. With 25 years of experience and travel (US, eastern Australia, Tasmania, and recently Costa Rica) Dan Nedrelo projects his own photos and provides first hand information and insight. Both slide programs and the WI-Rainforest Connection Powerpoint presentation feature colorful exciting images that spark imagination. His wildlife photos are often requested by books and magazines for publication. Programs run approximately an hour long but vary according to the individual needs of each school, library, or organization.

Performing Area: Indoors or outdoors, temperature permitting, with audience chair or floor seating in rows or semicircles for hands-on access and close visuals.
Requirements: For speaking engagements, two 8 foot tables, two chairs, and ability to darken room. For displays/demos, typically four 8 foot tables.

Description: I play and present the marimba. Whether it is being played or not, the marimba is visually appealing. Standing 3-4 feet high and stretching just beyond 8 feet wide, it can bring an audience in immediately. There are not many musical sounds that are more natural and pleasing than bars of wood being played by soft yarn.

For younger audiences I present the marimba as an entity in itself, teaching them about the instrument and engaging them in participatory activities using movement, listening, and singing. An example of this is my "color-coded mallets" activity. Audience members get to choose a color of mallet that I am using to follow with their eyes while I play. Then, those mallets give commands to hop, skip, gallop, and other fun movements. Listeners and watchers also might be asked to step to the beat that the right hand is moving to, while other listeners are following the left hand. Many variations of these games exist.

Depending on the size of the group, audience members will get opportunities to look at the instrument very closely and even play it! Singing activities are very applicable for the marimba, playing harmonies under our voices just like a guitar. Tunes I like to play and sing include well-known folk songs, nursery rhymes, Disney tunes, and more. For older listeners who are in band programs, I like playing cheesy hit and video game themes. I also focus on more technical playing for these older audiences.

I have conducted several master classes and workshops on percussion technique as well as general music education in Central Wisconsin and South-Eastern Wisconsin, presenting the marimba to grade levels K-12. Bringing this experience to a more general audience is a wonderful endeavor, which I want to continue.

Description: Lori Nichols of Nichols Nature Sense wants to gift children with a sense of wonder for Life Science and the Nature world around them. Programs are appropriate for children age 3-12 and their families. Minimum group size is 4, max is 35 children. Each program is approximately one hour long and includes hands-on learning, stories, songs, games, and a simple craft about Wisconsin wildlife and the natural world around us. I also offer guided hikes, bird watching, pond studies, microscope study, and animal dissections.

My lessons topics include flower dissections and parts of the flower, pollinators, seeds and how they travel, spring flower identification, photosynthesis, and fall colors, pond water study of single cellular organisms, the parts of an animal or plant cells, and How to Use a Microscope. My animal programs include life cycles from egg to adult, metamorphosis of frogs, butterflies and other insects, where animals live, what they eat, and how they survive in the wild. Animal programs can focus on frogs, turtles, thousands of insects, rabbits, otters, beavers, bats, raccoons, opossums, squirrels and chipmunks, skunks, bear, deer, and coyotes. Birds programs can include owls, ducks, geese, songbirds, and many more.

I have a live turtle and rabbit for hands-on educational programs. I order caterpillars and tadpoles for the spring season. I can also bring some of my furs such as an otter, beaver, mink, muskrat, raccoon, rabbit, skunk, opossum, deer, coyote, and a fisher weasel.

Sample programs are any of the animals above or Creepy Nocturnal Creatures, Animals in the Fall, Super Songbirds, Beautiful Butterflies, Fantastic Frogs, Life on the Pond, Incredible Insects, and many more.

With my Biology degree, I am trained in animal dissections for classes of children age 10 and up. Dissections can include frogs, fetal pigs, grasshoppers, earthworms, crayfish, perch (fish), clam, and starfish. I can also perform dissections on a cow's eye, flower, owl pellet, or sheep's heart, kidney or brain.

Performing Area: 10 by 10 foot sitting area for the audience to sit on the floor in front of me. Space for me to move through the group and show display items. Can be indoors or outdoors.
Requirements: Tables and chairs for craft time. Electrical is not necessary. Groups of less than 30 children are preferred. Large groups can be broken into multiple sessions.
Fee: $3.00 per child to cover craft supplies and preparation time. Minimum total fee is $30, plus travel expenses more than 100 miles from Appleton WI.
Travel Range: 100 miles of Appleton WI, farther with travel expenses.

Description:For more than 30 years, Mark Nichol's Puppet Place Theater has entertained children and families everywhere. Mark, who performed at such venues as Ravinia and Taste of Chicago, uses a variety of puppetry styles in his show. These styles—hand, rod, string, and shadow puppets—are worked into each story.

The Puppet Place Theater comes complete with classical and contemporary music for a full theatrical production. Programs are always presented on an age-appropriate level. Productions available included: "The Magic Onion," "Hansel and Gretel," "Peter Rabbit," and "The Wonderful World of Puppets." Special workshops and residencies on puppet-making are also available.

Magic Mark's Magic and Variety Show is 40 minutes of laughs, fun, and magic! Audience participation and entire-audience involvement are hallmarks of a Magic Mark show. Each year, Mark not only has new shows, but a feature effect specific to libraries and reading. An example is Booker, the drawing that comes to life! Imagine the fun when a book magically becomes animated, interacting with the children and engaging in comedy dialogue with Magic Mark! The Zany Inventor Show is 45 minutes of unbelievably wacky scientific fun! As the Zany Inventor, Mark instantly turns water to slush, grows a giant styrofoam mushroom, makes ooey-gooey (yet clean) "slime," and even has a child from the audience illuminate an electric light with their bare hands! Foam, fizz, and fun are all part of this one-of-a-kind show! Every child in attendance will get instructions on how to make their own "zany inventions" at home!

Magic Mark's years of experience ensure not only a great show, but also an easy time for you and your planners. You will be confident in the knowledge that you are bringing in someone with experience in making things go smoothly both on and off stage.

Cuentos y Cantos en Dos Idiomas / Stories and Songs in Two Languages - Folk tales, songs, games, and other fun activities invite children to sing and interact in English and Spanish.

I Dream of Trees: Folktales, true tales, and songs from around the earth about the power and beauty of trees and the people who plant and protect them. With music, movement, and occasional puppetry, this fun participatory program includes traditional stories about people and trees as well as the stories of tree-protectors like the women of the Chipko movement in India, tree-planters like Wangari Maathai of Kenya, and the Gaviotas community in Colombia.

Creatures of the Earth: For people who love animals! Songs, stories, chants, rhymes, and creative movement from around the world, all about the creatures of the earth—from tiny toads to giant whales.

The Beautiful Lake and Other Yoga Tales: World folk tales, songs, and games are interwoven with simple yoga postures and breathing practices to create a program that is both physically engaging and calming and fun for kids and adults.

These and other programs can be arranged all in English, all in Spanish, or with material in a variety of languages.

Description: Here's your ticket to stories that go everywhere! Pagnucci uses lots of child participation as she tells stories familiar and new. She uses clip clothespins, spatulas, shadow puppets, and masks to enchant children with wonderful folktales. She shows them how to create puppets at home, too. For an author talk, for either adults or children, Pagnucci tells stories, then shows how she takes them from the oral to the written form. She brings sheets hot off the press and talks about drawing and working ideas into the book format. She does not-too-scary stories as well!

Description: Pease is a musician, storyteller, and humorist whose performances are entirely participatory and designed to give all present "a big musical hug." His recording, "I'm Gonna Reach", was named an American Library Association Notable Children's Recording for 1990. "Boogie, Boogie, Boogie" won the 1986 Parent's Choice Gold Seal Award. His recording "Wobbi-do-Wop" was issued in 1993, and "Daddy Starts to Dance" in 1996. "Celebrate" (2003) features Pease and Stuart Stotts and is a CD/CD-ROM meant for kids 8 and under. It is also a resource for folks who work with young children. "Everybody Started Out Small," also with Stuart Stotts, was released in February 2007.

Description: "The Food Connection: A BB Broccoli & Sweet Potato Adventure" is a 45-minute musical adventure for children that is full of action, humor, and nutritional content. The play takes place in Icon Land, where symbols live, and where the evil Dr. Smush and his sidekick Additive are plotting to take over the world by altering the Food Plate. Fortunately for everyone's health, our two valiant vegetables, BB Broccoli and Sweet Potato save the day, thanks to songs like "Human Beings Are Moving Machines" and "Vegetables Can Save the World," help from The Titanium Cook and the Liberated Lunch Lady and their own fiber content. The Food Connection is a production from TAPIT/new works Ensemble Theater, a 26 year-old internationally touring performing arts group based in Madison. A Study Guide complements the performance.

Description: Mr. Peter is a dynamic and theatrical story book reader. He does not tell stories, but reads them right out of the book. He has years of experience dramatically reading stories in classrooms, oral interpretation classes, and public libraries. He puts pizzazz into reading. He can customize a program to meet any theme or setting. One of his popular presentations is "Dr. Seuss Stories." What was the first book that Dr. Seuss had published? Why did he write Green Eggs and Ham? Who is Theo LeSieg? All these questions are answered during the program. Children delight in the one-breath listing of everywhere to eat green eggs and ham. Local Dr. Seuss favorites can be included in the program. Mr. Peter also comes in character as Santa in his "Reading Santa" program. Some of the favorite books used in this program include The Night Before Christmas, The Polar Express, and Auntie Claus.

Description: "Folk Tales from Around the World" is a dynamic performance of fun folk tales from a variety of cultures and countries. Rick brings to life characters and animals to enrich and entertain the audience. Enjoy folk tales, myths, legends, and fables from places such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Kenya, China, and Africa or myths of Native American peoples. "Legends from Around the World" is a performance of legends about children from different cultures and countries. Both programs include some audience participation. In conjunction with this summer's theme, Mr. Ponzio will improvise a story using suggestions from the audience.

Description: Funtime Funktions offers a wide variety of fun, educational programs and entertainment. Our most popular program is "Global Games," where we teach kids about world cultures through a variety of skill toys from different countries. Feather the Faerie tells an animated story, followed by a lively demonstration of the toys by Mr. Fun. The kids then get to try out the toys, and we close with the kids doing brief performances with what they've learned.

Our newest program, "Trash to Treasures" teaches kids how to make the toys using recycled materials. They can take them home with them, or the toys can be kept for later use at the school or institution. Kids learn, play, perform, and create!

Storytelling can be added to any program. Feather The Faerie tells her own magical stories, which always end with an important life lesson. She comes dressed as a faerie and is very animated and enchanting.

We also offer magic programs, puppet programs, and a wide variety of fun entertainment for any age and occasion!

Performing Area: Minimum 30 by 30 feet. More space means more room to play. Programs like "Storytime" and "Trash to Treasures" need less space.
Fee: Negotiable starting at $200.
Travel Range: Nationwide

Description: Porter is a nationally known photographer and producer of wildlife videos. He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. His ability to handle animals and to predict and observe their behavior are indicators of his insight into the real world of animal life. In his programs he shares this knowledge and enthusiasm with audiences of all ages. Baby animals accompany him at some appearances. (Call to inquire about the possibility of on-site visits to Porter's Wildlife Unlimited facility.)

Description: A wisher, a liar, a magic bean buyer, Kathy tells traditional and modern folktales with a twist of humor, a kernel of truth and a tingle of suspense. She has been entertaining audiences of all ages since 1983 as a librarian, teacher, free lance storyteller, and Girl Scout volunteer. She has also presented storytelling workshops to teachers, child care providers, and community groups. She especially enjoys telling to multi-generational groups. Examples of her programs are "Story Carpet Traveling," "Paper and Strings" (stories illustrated with origami and string figures), "Tasty Morsels," "Critter Tales," "Spine Tickling Tales," and "Storytelling in the Classroom."

Description: Encourage taking care of Planet Earth through fun, creative art and craft programs for children and adults and game show activities for school age and family audiences that test knowledge of fun facts and encourage teamwork.

Popular "Catch the Recycle Bug" programs incorporate a theme-based story or activity, followed by "artful fun" where children create art out of ordinary household trash and repurposed materials. Participants are introduced to "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" and "green" messages in a fun, hands-on way. Deborah can bring a selection of reclaimed materials OR bring the environmental message closer to home by collecting reuseable materials in advance. Choose from a selection of seasonal themes (Bugs, Wildflowers, Snow/Snowmen, Fall Leaves, etc.), nature, recycling, environmental, diversity, or customized programs to meet your specific needs. A new program is created annually to fit the Summer Reading Program theme. NEW for 2013: Kaleidoscopes.

Game Shows and Activities: If you like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader, or Whad'Ya Know?, you'll love a Recycle Bug game show. Encourage your audience to put on their thinking caps and have fun learning about nature, conservation, and our environment in a fast-paced game show style activity. Perfect for families, teams, businesses, or school groups; makes learning fun while developing teamwork and cooperation skills. Fun for a variety of ages-test your knowledge as a contestant, play in the Recycle Band, or just cheer from the audience. Themes include:

Are You Smarter than the Kids? - A family-oriented game show that tests kid/parent teams to see just exactly who's smarter. You may be surprised!

Custom story, activity, game show, and art/craft programs designed to fit your theme are available; an additional creation fee may apply.

Performing Area: Storytelling - enough room to move around, 4 by 6 feet minimum, plus seating for audience; Art programs - 8 feet linear space for supplies; Game shows - 6 by 8 foot "stage" area plus seating for audience
Requirements: Art programs - One or two 8-foot tables for supplies and tables and chairs or floor area for participants to create art; Game shows require one table and seating for 6 contestants
Fee: Negotiable starting at $175, plus travel expenses beyond 35 miles; discounts for multiple performances in the same area on the same day
Travel Range: Wisconsin (April through December), surrounding states within a day's drive of Madison, and Boston MA area.
