Filing window.  The Form 471 application filing window for the July 1, 2014, funding year opened on Thursday, January 9, 2014, and will close at 10:59pm CDT on Wednesday, March 26, 2014. The filing window will be open for 77 days. Check out the FY2014 Eligible Services List for details and information on E-rate eligible services.

Enrollment and free/reduced lunch data.  Every fall the DPI collects data from each school district on the number of students enrolled and the number eligible for the federal free/reduced lunch program.  These data, along with considerable other student information, are collected via the Individual Student Enrollment System (ISES).  The data are now available.  Schools (and libraries) always have the option to use their own numbers but they will then need to provide documentation to support their numbers when contacted by the SLD’s Program Integrity Assurance (PIA) application review team. (DPI cannot verify numbers based on local documentation.)

DOA phone contracts. The state Department of Administration (DOA) has contracts for long distance and local phone service and cell service that can be used for the 2014 E-rate year. Note: While there are few changes for 2014, the websites will be updated in early 2014 to reflect any changes from 2013.

Workshop slides.  The SLD has posted its 2014 workshop slides in both PowerPoint and PDF.   These are the slides used at its regional training sessions.

As of late December 2013, 21% of all Priority 1 requests from WI applicants were still pending. PIA continues to send inquiries to applicants to resolve any issues on the pending applications.  If you get a request from PIA and are not certain how to respond feel free to contact Bob Bocher.  An incorrect response can result in a funding denial.
